How it works

The map holds events, local makers and places; anyone can add their own free of charge, and an organiser can sign in by e-mail to manage their entries. Paid promotion does not run yet — there is nothing on the map you could buy. When it arrives, it will be one day's labelled row at the top of a city's list, kept honest by these seven already-decided rules.

  1. 1

    Every paid placement is labelled

The row in the list carries the tag “Reklāma · event · date · amount €”, and the same is shown on the event page. There is no quiet promotion — if an entry was paid for, that is always written down.

  2. 2

The amount is public, the payer is not

Anyone can read what was highlighted, on which day and for how much. The buyer may appear under a nickname or stay anonymous; the legal identity stays with us.

  3. 3

Money does not change the content

Dates, prices and descriptions stay exactly as they were entered. A promotion changes visibility only, never the facts.

  4. 4

Money counts in exactly one place

Above a city's browse list, on the highlighted day — at most three labelled rows. The list below them stays the same as without advertising; no entry loses its place among the others.

  5. 5

In search, recommendations and on the map money changes nothing

Search results are ordered by how well they match, not by what was paid. Recommendations carry no paid place and never will. On the map a highlighted day neither marks the point nor changes the order — there are no pulsing paid rings.

  6. 6

Whoever pays more stands higher — and everyone sees it

Among the day's promoted rows the order is set by the amount, then the time of purchase. No auction: nobody can be outbid and nobody loses their place. Every amount is public.

  7. 7

The number of slots is limited

Three highlights per city-day, first come first served. A sold-out day says so before payment.

What a highlighted day will look like

The model is decided, but the checkout flow is not built yet — there is no way to pay today. When highlighting arrives, it will look like this:

FreeEverything on the map today: add, edit, browse, share. Always.
LengthOne or more chosen days — up to 10 days per purchase, within the next 30.
PlaceThe top of a city's browse list — Rīga in the pilot. Not on the map, not in search, not in recommendations.
PriceFrom €1 per day, capped at €20. The buyer picks the amount, and it is always public.
BuyerAnyone — with or without an account, even for somebody else's event (an organiser who has claimed an entry can switch third-party highlighting off for it). The buyer's name is not shown; a nickname is optional.

What money will never buy

A place in the search results. A place in the recommendations. Order on the map. Changes to content, dates or prices. And never silence about who paid what. If you ever see that this is not so, write to us, and we will put it right.
